At their 2021 General Assembly, the respekt vintners decided to posthumously award their companion and teacher Andrew Lorand an honorary membership. Andrew supported and advised the respekt group intensively in all biodynamic matters, especially in the early years.

Born in 1957, the American with Swiss roots studied agroecology, organic farming, gardening, writing and consulting. After an apprenticeship as a farmer and winegrower in Switzerland, he studied agroecology in the USA and wrote a dissertation on biodynamics. From the beginning of the 1970s, he was intensively involved with the theories of biodynamics and was a pioneer in the diagnosis and treatment of soils and homeopathic methods in agriculture. In the early 1990s, he specialised in viticulture. Until his untimely death in 2017, he was a teacher and consultant for many renowned biodynamic wineries in Europe. Andrew Lorand's work is continued by his wife Kathi Lorand.
