Franz Wehrheim

Franz Wehrheim is the fourth generation to produce classic dry wines on 20 hectares of vineyards in the Southern Palatinate. The versatile terroir in Birkweiler gives him the best opportunity to produce wines full of character. The great vineyards of the house are called "Sonnenschein" (shell limestone), "Kastanienbusch" (weathered sandstone, shell limestone and red slate) and Mandelberg (shell limestone).

Winery manager and cellar master Franz concentrates - still supported by father Karlheinz Wehrheim - on classic grape varieties such as Riesling, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir. The winery has been a VDP member since 1991 and has been farmed biodynamically since 2006.

Franz Wehrheim is respekt member because the idea of sustainability is decisive for family wineries. The vineyard, the winemaker, the family and the environment form a union.
